Synopsis.

Wherever danger lurks, wherever evil threatens to destroy humanity, wherever something really nasty and icky is happening, there’s Dwayne Hickenbottom, savior of Doxxville… running the other way, or at least, trying to.

Dwayne is a cog. A very small cog in very large machine. Not a very important machine, but a machine none the less. The great stationary supplying machine of the 20th century. He likes coffee, tidy work areas and untangled paperclips. It might not be much of a life, but it’s his, and he’s pretty darn proud of it. But when he finds himself in the far off world of Doxxville and deemed it’s savior by Nigel, the keeper of the War Boots, his life is about to finally get interesting.

Now Dwayne must face lovesick skeletons, invisible spies, giant pythons and fast food employees to free Doxxville from the evil Ashtofsky in this humorous, yet exciting adventure. Dwayne Hickenbottom and the War Boots of Doxxville.

Okay. I picked up Dwayne Hickenbottom for myself maybe a year ago and was excited about getting to know Dwayne and his kooky friends. That was until my (at the time) 10 year old son, Kristofer, saw the "cool" cover and asked if he could read it for an upcoming school book report. Before I could say yes, he had the book in his hands and was happily reading.

A day or two later, Kris was done reading and asked if I wouldn't mind letting him bring Dwayne Hickenbottom to school so a friend of his could read it, too. Again, before yes escaped my mouth he was off and so was Dwayne. Fast forward one year later. It was book report time, again and Dwayne Hickenbottom and the War Boots of Doxxville was the book of choice.

With that said, I just like to thank G.A. Perkins for the great story and hope we get another.

PS. Kris got a B+ and a A on both book reports.

I came across G.A. Perkins web site (www.thegrantperkins.com) and this soon led me from his amazing artwork to the novel and the amazing fantasy that is Doxxville (www.doxxville.com).

I'm not usually one for reading books, too lazy, not enough hours in the day, etc. ((the usual excuses) But i'm glad I found time for this. A bizarre range of characters, great dialogue and an original twisty plot. Very enjoyable, fantasy sci-fi comedy, it'll make you laugh and cry, but hopefully not at the same time! I look forward to the sequel...

"Dwayne Hickenbottom and the War Boots of Doxxville"
A very funny book from beginning to end, with some fabulous characters and interesting locations. Dwayne is something of an anti-hero, but he learns that everyone has their breaking point. His companion, Nigel, gives him lots of helpful advice and gets him out of some sticky situations. Their foes, the Ashtofsky Triplets, are certainly a force to be reckoned with, but the War Boots can overcome any adversary - can't they? All in all, a great read!

From its opening paragraph through to its final chapter Dwayne Hickenbotton and the War Boots of Doxxville is packed solid with sharp humour, imaginative ideas and colourful characters. With a surprise round every corner Dwaynes hilarious adventures never had a dull moment and would certainly give many other fantasy writers out there a run for their money. I loved every minute of it – J S Beal.
